Gardening is a creative challenge and allows one to experience the beauty of nature in a very practical hands-on way!
Much enjoyment and a real sense of accomplishment can be obtained from growing your own perennials and annuals from seed. I believe you will develop a deeper appreciation for your garden and your individual plants, as you watch the transformation from seed to mature specimens.
You can enjoy a greater variety of perennials and annuals, when you cultivate your own seeds rather than purchasing plants from your local nursery. The difference in money spent can also be quite significant.
I have a page of links, sites which I have found quite beneficial in learning more about growing from seed, and in the ongoing cultivation of different plants.
I live in Southern Ontario and over the last six years or so have developed an avid interest in gardening. Our zone is listed as zone 5 with distinct four seasons of growing which range from freezing temperatures to tropical. This is a picture of our back yard in the late spring of 2004.
I marvel at the beauty of the flowers and the distinctive foliage of the great variety of plants you can grow from seed. This gratitude has overflowed into a new hobby of amateur photography. My husband and I acquired a new digital camera this past June. We are astounded at the pictures we have captured in our own garden. The camera we purchased is a Nikon Coolpix 5200. The pictures on this website were mostly taken with this camera. We have been so delighted with the quality of pictures taken that we would like to offer some photos for you to download. They are available on the download page for your convenience.
