Jasper National Park

Jasper National Park is Canada's largest Rocky Mountain Park.  There  are daily entry and service fees to the park and you are asked how long you will be planning on staying in the Park.  The scenery is fantastic with lots of trails for hiking and countless opportunities for photos.

We were delighted to see our "welcoming committee" ready to greet us as we entered Jasper National Park.

Jasper Park Wildlife

Jasper National Park

We noticed that there were an abundance of evergreen trees in the Park and few deciduous trees.  The scenery was incredibly beautiful.

There are many look out points on the highway where you can pull over to take snaps of the landscape.  We took binoculars along to enjoy the view even more.

Jasper National Park Wildllife

We saw this elk at dusk on the side of the road near the hotel where we were staying for the night..  He seemed quite oblivious to our presence.
The hiking was fantastic with so many opportunities for photo taking.

Rocky Mountains

The majestic Rocky Mountains are superb in their beauty!

The highway seems to cut through the Mountains.

The color of the lake is a striking blue with the Rocky Mountains rising in the background.   We took this picture from a look out point along the highway.
The snow is evident on the Mountain peaks even during the warmer weather months.

Miette Hot Springs

We enjoyed a tropical dip at the Miette Hot Springs.  The air temperature was approximately 0 degrees Celsius but the water temperature was a balmy 40 degrees Celsius.

Columbia Ice fields is the largest ice field south of Alaska.  You can take a Snocoach trip on the icy slopes of the Athabasca Glacier.

We were able to cup some of the ice cold water in our hands for a drink.  It was quite refreshing and unique in its taste.

This is another view of the Columbia Ice Field.  We took the Snocoach onto the ice field and had a walk around.  It was quite chilly that day as it was the second week of September.

This is a view from up above the Icefield, prior to our going out on the Icefield on the Brewster Snocoach.
